Our Old House

A History in Pictures - Demolition

Getting ready.

On the first day the area around the deck has the shingle removed.

Our friend (and neighbor) Steph starts the hole that will eventually become the foundation for the remodel.

Louie patrols the pile of dirt.

The forms are in and we are ready to pour the foundation. The blog tells the story of some of the challenges of getting to this point.

Now that exterior is clear, it's time to remove the deck. Louie (one of our dogs) lost his favorite perch.

A detail of the missing deck.

Paul pounding out the cracked foundation with a spline hammer. (Thank you to the Berkeley Tool Lending Library. They seem to have almost everything that an owner-builder could need, including information.)
