Jacob Van Vleet joined the DVC faculty in
2006. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Religion from the
California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, an M.A.
in Philosophy from the Dominican School of Philosophy (Berkeley), an
M.A. in Theology from the Graduate Theological Union at U.C.
Berkeley, a B.A. in Religious Studies from California State
University – Chico, and an A.A. from Shasta College. His primary
academic interests include Asian and Western comparative philosophy,
particularly ethics and the philosophy of technology. He is the
author of Informal Logical Fallacies: A Brief Guide, a
critical thinking textbook used at various colleges and
