Summer 2009
Statistics with Probability
Syllabus
Math Lab Information
|
This course will cover the same material as the 18-week Fall/Spring
course but will be presented in a 9 Module 6-week format so be prepared
to put in about 25 hours per week to master the material.
All students are encouraged to attend an orientation. All sections have a
scheduled on campus orientation meeting and I have also scheduled a supplemental orientation
where students can get help on the computer as well as an online
orientation for students who would rather not come to campus. Please see the syllabus for details. Since there are four sections, you can attend any one of the four orientation meetings and
exam times/dates. Any student who does not attend the orientation and
does not contact me prior to the meeting, may be dropped from the
course. During the orientations I will be
demonstrating the course management system and answering questions.
Please read the syllabus prior to the orientation. Students wishing to
add should join a waitlist and attend an orientation to receive an add
code.

This course covers the same
material as the on-campus version and is presented as 15 modules in a
17-18-week format. Although the course is not "self-paced", you can
decide when, during each week, to do all the required work. The typical
student spends about 12-15 hours per week to master the material for
this 4-unit course. In addition to the text work, students will be
visiting exciting websites each week to view statistics in real life,
take weekly online quizzes (open book) and participate in a supportive
and informative classroom discussion board. Students will be using an
interactive online program (Course Compass) to complete weekly
homework assignments and quizzes. There will be three on-campus exams
and students may use a note card with formulas for each exam so
memorizing formulas will not be necessary. Students must attend one of
the orientations that I offer for Spring 2009; it doesn't matter
which one you choose but please let me know if you choose to come later
than your scheduled orientation so I don't drop you for non attendance.
Cick on one of the syllabi to the left for more detailed information.
