Class of 1999 - Student Graduation Reflections
Karen G.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share our food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk in the knowledge you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, redeemed.
NEVER throw anyone away.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older, you'll discover that you have two hands:
One for helping yourself, the second for helping others.
You have great days ahead of you. May there be many of them.
Laura B-S.
"Lover of Liquor Antics" (aka LOLA)
It's hard to let go of her
That crazy, passionate, fun-loving gal
My alcoh-alter ego: Lola.
Lola is care-free: I think too much
Lola takes risks: I shy away
Lola is unafraid: I bathe in a fountain of fears
Lola lives life: Life sometimes lives me.
I admire her in so many ways
Jumping in on impulse (no thought of the depth)
Living in the moment (no foreseeable future)
No responsibilities (no family, no friends).
But Lola get bruises and Lola breaks laws and
Lola ultimately loses herself in it all
Leaving me to mop up her mess.
So Lola and I made a deal.
If she gave up the booze,
I promised to Laugh Loudly
To Love, to Live in the moment.
To jump in and take risks
To Write of her antics
To sing to the fauna and flora
To thank God for her and for me
And to change her name to Laura
Together, we walk in joyous Sobriety.
